Tuesday, April 29th, 1930: Rizzuto Bashes 5 Base Hits
Warwickshire shortstop Phil Rizzuto really lit up the Surrey Brown Caps with a 5-hit barrage today at Edgbaston -- a performance that sparked the Bears to a 3-1 triumph.

He shrugged off the performance after the game and said, "Sometimes the ball finds outfielders, today the ball found some holes."

P. Rizzuto singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 7th, singled in the 9th and hit a two-run home run off J. Aker in the 12th.

Willie Mays put on a hitting clinic today as the Outlaws dumped the Brown Caps 11-5 at Trent Bridge. The Nottinghamshire center fielder sprayed hits all over the ballpark by lashing Surrey pitching for 5 hits in 5 at-bats in the game.

He told SION reporters after the game, that he just hit it where they pitched it. "Too often I try to pull the ball too much. Today I just went with the pitch."

Thursday, April 3rd, 1930: It's Official: 1B Johnson Signs with Brown Caps
SION reports that the Surrey Brown Caps have just agreed with first baseman Nick Johnson on a contract, signing the free agent to a $160,580 deal for 2 years.

Sources indicate that both sides are happy with the deal and look forward to a productive future.

His career stats show that Johnson has batted .264 and connected for 119 home runs.
