Thursday, November 11th, 1926: Weintraub Best BL Rookie in 1926
Phil Weintraub's debut season was more than he had ever dreamed. Today the British saluted him as the 1926 Youth of the Year Award winner.

"I could hardly believe it," he told the press. "To make the team and be a regular was what I was hoping for during spring training. And now to get this award, this has been a very special season."

Weintraub earned it with some solid numbers. During the regular season, the Northamptonshire first baseman rang up an impressive .292 average in 158 games with 172 hits in 589 at-bats, 19 home runs, 108 RBIs and 88 runs scored. In addition Weintraub added 139 walks to compile his .427 on-base percentage.

This weekend the SION Baseball Writers Association will present the trophy to Weintraub for being the BL's best rookie. He will receive it at its annual awards dinner.
Tuesday, November 2nd, 1926: Hawks Crowned HNBA Champions
It was a hard fought battle for both teams to make it this far. But as the saying goes, to the victors go the spoils: Hampshire got the Home Nations Baseball Association World Test trophy today with a 6-1 victory over Northamptonshire at Rose Bowl. The Hawks won their 4th championship after taking the series with the Steelbacks 4-2.

"They've got grit!" one fan told SION, "They know how to win when they have to. They're the League Champions!"

The new titleholders completed the regular season with a first place finish in the Celtic Cornish Division and a 98-64 won-loss record.
