Essex rode the magical arm of Dave Wright in a 5-0 shutout win over Middlesex. He shackled them on 4 hits and fanned 11. Almost to a man, the Middlesex Crusaders said he had them guessing wrong all game long.
Checking out his stats for the season, Wright has registered 18 wins and 6 losses in 30 starts, 1.63 ERA and struck out 277 batters in 254.1 innings.

It was a smooth and solid performance by Dazzy Vance of the Surrey Brown Caps against Middlesex today. He crafted a fine 5-hitter in blanking them 2-0 and chalked up 12 strikeouts and no walks along the way.
"It certainly makes my job easy," said the Surrey skipper. "When my pitcher pitches a shutout. I can just sit back, watch, and enjoy."
To this point in the season, Vance shows a 22-6 record, 30 starts, 249 innings, 209 strikeouts and a 1.59 ERA.

VICTOR STARFFIN of the Middlesex Crusaders whitewashed the Nottinghamshire Outlaws 2-0 in a complete game win, limiting them to 5 hits while chalking up 10 strikeouts and giving up 2 walks.
"Talking to SION writers after the game, his manager said, "He's got the makeup. He's not afraid to challenge guys. VICTOR is pretty poised out there. He knows how to pitch and how to use his stuff."
On his stats sheet this season STARFFIN shows a 7-9 record, 22 starts, 153.1 innings, 121 strikeouts and a 3.82 ERA.
