It's not something you read in the sports pages everyday -- a 5-for-7 day. It may only come around once in a career -- a lot of players never have one -- but Harry Heilmann got one today. He scattered hits all over Edgbaston to pace Warwickshire to a 7-6 victory over Yorkshire.
The Yorkshire skipper told reporters in the press room, "Tip your hat to him. He hit some good pitches. According to the scouting report, Heilmann hit several that he is not supposed to hit."
H. Heilmann hit an RBI single in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, tripled in the 6th, singled in the 8th, flied out in the 10th, singled in the 12th and doubled in the 14th.
Thus far this year Heilmann has hit .273 with 5 home runs and 58 RBIs.

 | Friday, September 1st, 1922: Bears Blanked by Spitfires
Jesse Barnes had an impressive outing today. He hurled the Kent Spitfires to a 5-0 shutout victory over the Warwickshire Bears, yielding 3 hits with 6 strikeouts and 1 walk.
"He threw strikes and he was always around the plate," the Warwickshire skipper said. "The ball was doing everything he wanted it to do. We hit some balls hard, but they were all right at the fielders."
Over the season Barnes has thrown 208 innings and dished out 119 strikeouts with a 18-7 mark and a 3.20 ERA.

 | Tuesday, August 29th, 1922: DiPino Firms Up Extension Details with Warwickshire
The Bears opened their pocketbook and persuaded Frank DiPino to continue his career in front of the fans who have grown to appreciate his talent and contributions.
The agreement was for $45,000 over 3 years.
"DiPino just wants to get paid. If YOU don't wanna pay DiPino, DiPino don't wanna play for YOU." So he said today at the press conference when asked about the details of the negotiations.
So far this season, DiPino has compiled a 5-6 won-lost mark with 12 saves and a 2.27 ERA. In 71.1 innings he has fanned 79 and opponents are hitting him at a .258 clip.
