| Breaking News |  | Friday, July 14th, 1922: Cooney 5-5 Against Northamptonshire-2nd-IX It was a good day all around. Kent-2nd-IX whipped Northamptonshire-2nd-IX 7-2 and Johnny Cooney displayed a hot bat, enjoying an outstanding 5-hit day at Mole Park.
"Some days, lady luck is on your side," he modestly told SION reporters after the game. His manager told the beat writers otherwise, "His hitting wasn't luck today. It's his solid approach to hitting. Johnny is focused, patient and he hits to all fields. The more solid at-bats you put together, the more success you're going to have, and vice versa."
