Monday, August 20th, 1923: Spitfires Conley Sidelined for 2-3 Weeks
Kent-2nd-IX reliever Snipe Conley has a strained back muscle, suffered while throwing a pitch. He's expected to be out for 2-3 weeks.

This year Conley has collected no saves in no relief appearances. He has also compiled a 1-9 won-lost mark with a 4.26 ERA and fanned 76 batters in 93 innings. Opponents are hitting him at a .276 clip in 1923.
Monday, August 20th, 1923: Week's Best Player - Kent-2nd-IX's Cora
The Dales has named its Top Player of the Week. The honor went to Alex Cora, shortstop of the Kent-2nd-IX Spitfires.

In an extraordinary hitting display, he belted out hits at a .440 pace to win the award. Cora went 11-25 for the week, totaled 3 home runs, 12 RBIs and scored 4 times.

In the 1923 campaign Cora has hit at a .264 clip with 60 RBIs, 11 home runs and 60 runs scored.
Tuesday, August 7th, 1923: Vandagrift 5-5 for Kent-2nd-IX
History in the making. That's what the fans at Mole Park got to see today, when Kent-2nd-IX outplayed the Bears 10-8. Carl Vandagrift of the Spitfires came to the plate 5 times and came away with a dynamite day as he exploded for 5 hits against Warwickshire-2nd-IX.

In the postgame press conference the Warwickshire-2nd-IX skipper quipped to reporters, "Hey, we tried to get him out. We threw everything but the kitchen sink against him and he hit it. Maybe we should've thrown the kitchen sink."

C. Vandagrift singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, hit a two-run double in the 6th and singled in the 8th.

Vandagrift is batting at a .268 pace in 1923, picking up 37 hits in 138 at-bats with 1 home run, 19 RBIs and 17 runs scored.
