| Breaking News | | Friday, August 17th, 1923: Red-Hot Loucks Scorches Greyhounds What a day for Scott Loucks of the Warwickshire-2nd-IX Bears! A 5-hit hitting spree! That doesn't happen everyday! He ripped Limavady-2nd-IX pitching apart at Stratford-upon-Avon Ground and sparked the Bears to a 17-1 victory. He wrote his name in the record books, finishing up his special day 5-6.
"I'm usually a first ball hitter," Loucks told SION reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid that."
S. Loucks struck out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a three-run double in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off B. Cueto in the 9th.
Presently Loucks is batting .201 with 3 home runs and 30 RBIs. He has played in 127 games and scored 38 times. | | Tuesday, August 7th, 1923: Vandagrift 5-5 for Kent-2nd-IX History in the making. Carl Vandagrift of the Spitfires came to the plate 5 times and came away with a dynamite day as he exploded for 5 hits against Warwickshire-2nd-IX.
In the postgame press conference the Warwickshire-2nd-IX skipper quipped to reporters, "Hey, we tried to get him out. We threw everything but the kitchen sink against him and he hit it. Maybe we should've thrown the kitchen sink."
C. Vandagrift singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, hit a two-run double in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
Vandagrift is batting at a .268 pace in 1923, picking up 37 hits in 138 at-bats with 1 home run, 19 RBIs and 17 runs scored. | | Monday, August 6th, 1923: Warwickshire-2nd-IX's Shanks DL's Hottest Hitter The Player of the Week has been announced by the Dales.
