| Breaking News | | Monday, August 20th, 1923: Middlesex-2nd-IX Reliever Out "I'm frustrated right now," said Middlesex-2nd-IX reliever Charlie Heard. "I can't help this team by sitting on the bench or in the training room." Unfortunately for the Crusaders, that's where he will be spending the next 1-2 weeks. Heard suffered a finger blister in today's game against Kent-2nd-IX while throwing a pitch. "Believe me," he said, "I won't be out a day longer than I have to be."
For the season Heard is 0-and-10 with no saves and a 5.52 ERA. He has given up 77 hits in 76.2 innings with 35 strikeouts. | | Thursday, August 16th, 1923: Knowlson Befuddles Pembroke-2nd-IX Tom Knowlson of Middlesex-2nd-IX easily handled the Pembroke-2nd-IX Red Foxes, stopping them on 4 hits and chucking a complete game 4-0 shutout.
"He really did a job on us," said the Pembroke-2nd-IX manager. "He had good command of his pitches. He changed speeds well and pretty much confused us. We never could zero in on him, but he certainly zeroed in on us."
Knowlson said, "Everything was working for me. Throwing my breaking stuff over the plate was big."
He finished the game with 3 strikeouts and 4 walks in a solid outing.
In 1923 Knowlson has fashioned a 10-12 mark, 5.12 ERA and pitched 168.2 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .277 against him and he has logged 77 strikeouts. | | Saturday, June 16th, 1923: Koslo Cruises to Shutout Lancashire-2nd-IX starter Dave Koslo really did a number on the Crusaders today, shutting them out 3-0 on 4 hits in a complete game victory. He issued 3 walks and had 9 strikeouts.
In his postgame comments, the Middlesex-2nd-IX manager said, "We didn't have good at-bats. I don't make excuses, but when we were playing the game, our energy didn't show. That comes from either extremely good pitching or extremely lousy hitting... seeing as our team has a bunch of pretty good hitters, I have to tip my cap to Dave... he did an outstanding job today."
Currently Koslo has a record of 8-4 with 79 strikeouts and 39 walks in 112.1 innings and a 3.20 ERA. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 48-82, .369 PCT | | Position in Division | 6th, 40.0 GB | | Record at home | 23-42, .354 PCT | | Record on the road | 25-40, .385 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 2-8, .200 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 15-27, .357 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 10-18, .357 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 38-64, .373 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 4-6, .400 PCT | | Record in April | 10-18, .357 PCT | | Record in May | 11-18, .379 PCT | | Record in June | 8-18, .308 PCT | | Record in July | 11-17, .393 PCT | | Record in August | 8-11, .421 PCT |
