Saturday, October 28th, 1922: Hawks Top Spitfires in World Test
The Hampshire faithful were cheering in the streets and the Kent fans were crying in their beer -- The Hawks won the World Test. They clinched it by knocking off the Spitfires 5-1 to take their 1st Home Nations Baseball Association crown. Hampshire took the series 4-2.

"This club never gave up all year long. They believed they could win the title and they did," the victorious skipper told the press.

"We just didn't play well enough to win," the Spitfires manager lamented, "We just didn't make the big plays like they did."

On the way to the World Test title Hampshire compiled a 101-61 won-loss record and finished second in the Celtic Cornish Division.
Saturday, October 21st, 1922: Hawks Holds Spitfires Scoreless
Cliff Lee of the Hampshire Hawks gave the Spitfires a steady diet of fine pitches and he walked off the mound with a complete game shutout. He blanked them 3-0 on 3 hits with a total of 8 strikeouts and 2 walks.

The Hampshire manager said, "Lee was on quite a roll. He gets great late movement and he doesn't give in to the hitters."

Currently Lee has a 16-8 won-lost record in 31 starts with a 2.15 ERA. He also has 232 strikeouts in 213.2 innings.
Sunday, October 15th, 1922: Dixie Walker Out for 1-2 Weeks
"It was kinda freaky. Hopefully, I'll be back in the lineup soon," said a dejected Dixie Walker after injuring himself in a game against Worcestershire. The Kent manager told SION reporters, "He will miss up to 1-2 weeks with a strained hamstring muscle." The Spitfires will have to decide over the next day or two whether the center fielder will go on the disabled list.

Walker is hitting .262 this year with 16 home runs and 104 RBIs. He also has an OBP of .355, 91 walks and scored 87 times.
