If the Lancashire-2nd-IX Lightning know how best to pitch the Pembroke-2nd-IX second baseman Stan Sperry they didn't tip their hand today. Instead Sperry showed he knew how best to hit them as he easily handled Lightning pitching, going 5 for 5 and helping the Red Foxes to a 7-0 triumph at Ballpark of Pembroke.
He told SION reporters in the postgame interview, "The way I was swinging today, I think I could have closed my eyes and hit the ball."
The Lancashire-2nd-IX skipper quipped, "Well, the next time we may just do that...blindfold him...and then pitch him differently, just to be sure."
S. Sperry singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
Sperry is presently hitting at a .286 pace with no home runs and 6 RBIs. He has played in 42 games and scored 6 times.

Speaking after the game, the Lancashire-2nd-IX manager said, "Dick Crutcher had everything going for him. He controlled their bat speed, stayed down, had a lot of movement... he had it all...masterful."
Crutcher held the Northamptonshire-2nd-IX Steelbacks to 4 hits and fashioned a fine 14-0 shutout. He had no walks and 4 strikeouts in the game.
"We couldn't get anything going. He certainly had our number," the Northamptonshire-2nd-IX skipper told reporters.

Lancashire-2nd-IX starter Dave Koslo really did a number on the Crusaders today, shutting them out 3-0 on 4 hits in a complete game victory. He issued 3 walks and had 9 strikeouts.
In his postgame comments, the Middlesex-2nd-IX manager said, "We didn't have good at-bats. I don't make excuses, but when we were playing the game, our energy didn't show. That comes from either extremely good pitching or extremely lousy hitting... seeing as our team has a bunch of pretty good hitters, I have to tip my cap to Dave... he did an outstanding job today."
Currently Koslo has a record of 8-4 with 79 strikeouts and 39 walks in 112.1 innings and a 3.20 ERA.
