| | Tuesday, April 8th, 1924: Capron Rips Nottinghamshire-2nd-IX for 5 Hits "It was like I was hitting little league pitching," said Ralph Capron after his 5-hit performance against the Outlaws. "No offense meant to Nottinghamshire-2nd-IX, but I could see the ball that well. But this wasn't a kid league park, it was Worcestershire Grounds!"
The Worcestershire-2nd-IX left fielder had a fantastic day at the plate, knocking out 5 hits in 6 at-bats and pacing his club to a 24-4 victory.
His manager elaborated after the game to the press, saying, "Ralph worked the entire offseason on trying to shorten his swing and stay inside the ball and the hard work is paying off in base hits."
"That's what I'm trying to do," Capron said. "Be quick to the ball and let it travel a little farther so I get a better look at it."
R. Capron flied out in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, walked in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th, singled in the 8th and hit a two-run home run off A. Huenke in the 8th.
This year Capron has hit at a .333 clip with 11 hits, 1 home run, 4 RBIs and 9 runs scored. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 5-6, .455 PCT | | Position in Division | 4th, 1.0 GB | | Record at home | 3-2, .600 PCT | | Record on the road | 2-4, .333 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 0-3, .000 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 1-3, .250 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 1-1, .500 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 4-5, .444 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 4-6, .400 PCT | | Record in April | 5-6, .455 PCT |
