| Breaking News |  | Saturday, October 28th, 1922: Hawks Top Spitfires in World Test The Hampshire faithful were cheering in the streets and the Kent fans were crying in their beer -- The Hawks won the World Test. They clinched it by knocking off the Spitfires 5-1 to take their 1st Home Nations Baseball Association crown. Hampshire took the series 4-2.
"This club never gave up all year long. They believed they could win the title and they did," the victorious skipper told the press.
"We just didn't play well enough to win," the Spitfires manager lamented, "We just didn't make the big plays like they did."
On the way to the World Test title Hampshire compiled a 101-61 won-loss record and finished second in the Celtic Cornish Division. |  | Saturday, October 21st, 1922: Hawks Holds Spitfires Scoreless Cliff Lee of the Hampshire Hawks gave the Spitfires a steady diet of fine pitches and he walked off the mound with a complete game shutout. He blanked them 3-0 on 3 hits with a total of 8 strikeouts and 2 walks.
The Hampshire manager said, "Lee was on quite a roll. He gets great late movement and he doesn't give in to the hitters."
Currently Lee has a 16-8 won-lost record in 31 starts with a 2.15 ERA. He also has 232 strikeouts in 213.2 innings. |  | Sunday, October 15th, 1922: Meadows Sharp, Whitewashes Gladiators "That was one of my best outings," said Lee Meadows. "I was worried a lot in the bullpen. My ball wasn't quite right. Luckily, it can be two different worlds -- the bullpen and the game. Once I stepped on the field, it all fell into place."
It was an impressive start for the Hawks hurler. He blanked the Gladiators 7-0 on a strong 3-hitter while ringing up 5 strikeouts and doling out 4 walks.
