| Breaking News | | Wednesday, September 27th, 1922: Taylor Holds Pirates Scoreless Jack Taylor of the Durham Dynamos just toyed with the Larne Pirates today, blanking them 4-0. He was almost untouchable, baffling them on a 4-hit shutout with 4 strikeouts and 2 walks.
"I'm sweating now because it's hot in here," Taylor said in the clubhouse after the game. "But it didn't even feel like I was sweating out there."
One of his teammates said it was easy to play behind him today. "It was like he's just playing with the hitters and doing whatever he wanted to do."
So far this year Taylor has 31 wins and 18 losses and a 3.18 ERA. | | Saturday, August 12th, 1922: Hooray for Felsch! Hammers 5 Hits! 5 hits in a game doesn't happen every day. Clontarf's Happy Felsch had a very special day against the Pirates when everything came together for him and he did just that -- collected 5 hits in 5 at-bats -- and led the Clontarf Bulls to a 10-3 win at Castle Grounds.
"I'm just out there to try and help the team win," Felsch said after the game, "I had some real good at-bats today. I made good, solid contact and luckily no one caught 'em."
H. Felsch singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit a two-run single in the 8th and singled in the 9th.
