Breaking News Monday, October 2nd, 1922: Dynamos Gore Takes CL Batting Crown Dynamos center fielder George Gore hit the cover off the ball all year long and today picked up the Celtic batting crown. The 24-year-old Gore hit .347 with 6 home runs and 72 RBIs. He also delivered 215 hits, including 38 doubles and 7 triples, played in 150 games and scored 96 runs. Sunday, October 1st, 1922: Taylor Cops #1 Pitcher Award in September A 6-3 record with a 2.12 ERA is a pretty good month for most any pitcher. The Celtic thought it was worthy of an award and named Jack Taylor, starter for the Durham Dynamos, September's Pitcher of the Month. He also held the opposition to a .213 average while posting 35 strikeouts in 85 innings. So far this year Taylor has a 32-18 record with a 3.14 ERA. Wednesday, September 27th, 1922: Taylor Holds Pirates Scoreless Jack Taylor of the Durham Dynamos just toyed with the Larne Pirates today, blanking them 4-0. He was almost untouchable, baffling them on a 4-hit shutout with 4 strikeouts and 2 walks. "I'm sweating now because it's hot in here," Taylor said in the clubhouse after the game. "But it didn't even feel like I was sweating out there." One of his teammates said it was easy to play behind him today.
