Breaking News
Sunday, September 10th, 1922: Nehf Humbles Buckie
Clontarf pitcher Art Nehf blanked the Buckie Whalers 3-0, tossing a 5-hitter while issuing 4 walks and collecting 3 strikeouts.

After his sharp shutout performance, he said that he gives a lot of the credit to his batterymate. "Me and him are just locked in out there. He's so great at having a feel for hitters. I couldn't do what I'm doing without him."

In 1922 Nehf has logged 15 wins and 9 losses and struck out 116 batters in 227.2 innings while compiling a 1.82 ERA.
Wednesday, August 30th, 1922: Rusch Cruises to Shutout
Glendon Rusch pitched a strong game in blanking the Buckie Whalers 10-0, allowed no runs on 3 hits, totaled 11 strikeouts and gave up 1 walk.

The Hampshire manager said he could tell right away it was going to be a good game for Rusch. "Right from the start, you could see how economical he was," he said. "He threw a lot of strikes."

In 25 starts this season, Rusch has picked up 15 wins while suffering 4 losses. He has pitched 186.2 innings, allowed 134 hits, struck out 180 and posted a 2.17 ERA.
Friday, August 4th, 1922: Nothing Doing for Whalers, Shutout by Johnson
According to Walter Johnson of the Gloucestershire Gladiators, "There are three important elements in pitching success: location, location, and location." He told his pitching philosophy to sportswriters in the postgame interview after his 6-0 victory over Buckie.

He blanked them on a 4-hitter, allowed 1 walk and had 9 strikeouts. "I really felt comfortable the whole game," Johnson said.

His manager echoed his comments, saying, "He hit his spots time and time again."

To date this year in 28 starts, Johnson has crafted a 19-4 mark with a 2.73 ERA.
