"I hope we miss him next time," the Kent manager said. "Myers certainly pitched a strong game against us today. He was in a groove, throwing everything for strikes. Throwing hard. Changing speeds."
The Sussex starter tamed the Kent Spitfires 4-0 with a 2-hit shutout, finishing the game with 6 strikeouts and 7 walks in a sharp outing.
"I enjoy facing a team like that where I can get an out on one, two or three pitches," Myers said. "It gives me a chance to be a lot more aggressive."
In 32 starts this season Myers has crafted a 8-14 record with a 3.39 ERA.

Dazzy Vance of the Surrey Brown Caps was right on target when he blanked the Sussex Sharks 5-0, yielded 5 hits and totaled 1 walk and 12 strikeouts.
Speaking to SION reporters after the game, Vance said, "I had everything working today and I got some help from my defense, too. They saved my butt a few times."
On his stats sheet this season Vance shows a 23-6 record, 31 starts, 258 innings, 221 strikeouts and a 1.53 ERA.

Worcestershire pitcher Howard Ehmke put on a show today and walked away with a 3-0 shutout victory over the Sussex Sharks, throttling them on 1 hit. He just cruised through their lineup, fanning 5 and walking 6 in a strong outing.
"He was very efficient and he hit his spots," his manager said. "He stayed down in the zone and stayed away from the middle of the plate."
This season Ehmke has fanned 92 in 167.1 innings and collected a 8-10 record with a 3.82 ERA.
