| Breaking News |  | Monday, May 12th, 1930: Hot Bat Wins BL Player of the Week Honors
The British has selected its Player of the Week. The honor went to Joe Harris, left fielder of the Derbyshire Phantoms.
In a standout performance, he lit up the league with a .500 average to win the award. Harris went 11-22 for the week, totaled 1 home run with 1 RBIs and scored 7 times.
So far this year Harris has 3 home runs and a .376 batting average. |
 | Friday, May 2nd, 1930: Keeley Fashions Shutout Against Phantoms
Sometimes even Burt Keeley of Sussex isn't sure which pitcher will show up when he takes the mound.
"I've been good sometimes and bad sometimes," he said.
This time he made the Derbyshire Phantoms look bad 5-0.
Keeley tossed a 5-hit shutout against them, totaling 5 strikeouts and giving up 3 walks.
This year Keeley has a 3-1 mark in 5 starts with a 3.08 ERA. He has given up 35 hits in 38 innings, struck out 18 and issued 13 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .248 batting average against him.

 | Thursday, May 1st, 1930: Welch Earns April's Best Pitcher Honor
The #1 pitcher this past month in the British was Bob Welch of the Derbyshire Phantoms. He worked the hitters over real good, finishing April with a superb 4-0 record and a 2.18 ERA.
The Phantoms star made 6 starts and surrendered 39 hits in 41.1 innings. He struck out 38 and walked 7.
