 | Saturday, July 1st, 1922: Abreu Voted June's #1 Newcomer The Celtic made the official announcement today. The Rookie of the Month trophy went to Bobby Abreu of Buckie. He was voted the outstanding rookie in June. Last month the 22-year-old Whalers right fielder played in 26 games and hit .283 with 3 doubles, 1 triple and 6 home runs. Abreu also scored 14 times and drove in 18 runs. In 1922 Abreu is batting .253 with 11 home runs and 45 RBIs. |
