Home Nations Baseball Association News Article | |  | Sunday, June 4th, 1922: Gordon on a Tear, Hits for the Cycle In Gloucestershire's 6-5 win today, Joe Gordon roughed up Lurgan pitching in a big way. The 25-year-old second baseman hit for the cycle, rapping out a single, double, triple and home run.
"Wow, what a good day! And my parents and kid brother were here to see it, too," a beaming Gordon said after the game. "I really got some good looks today and delivered. Sometimes you're just locked in."
J. Gordon grounded out in the 2nd, flied out in the 4th, hit an RBI triple in the 6th, hit a two-run double in the 8th, singled in the 10th and hit a solo-shot off T. Hoffman in the 12th.
So far in 1922 Gordon has hit .326 with 13 home runs and 61 RBIs. He has played in 54 games and scored 40 times. | |
